The M.A.D.1S Watch: A Bold and Unconventional Timepiece
In August 2024, the watch world was buzzing with excitement over the release of the M.A.D.1S by MB&F’s M.A.D. Editions. This watch was a game-changer, offering a futuristic and eye-catching design at a more accessible price compared to MB&F’s usual high-end timepieces.
One of the standout features of the M.A.D.1S is its side-reading time display. Unlike traditional watches where the time is shown on the top, this watch places the hour and minute markers on rotating rings around the side. This unique design allows the wearer to check the time at a glance, without needing to tilt their wrist. This “S” version is also thinner than its predecessor.
The watch is powered by a La Joux-Perret G101 movement with a 68-hour power reserve, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. It was released in two color options: Purple, which was exclusive to MB&F members, and Ice Blue, which was made available to the public. Due to its high demand, MB&F even had to hold a raffle to decide who could purchase the watch!

One of the lucky owners of the M.A.D.1S was @watcheskick, a watch collector with a passion for unique and bold designs. While he loved the watch, he felt that it needed something extra—something that could match its daring and unconventional look. That’s when he got the idea to create a strap inspired by Godzilla.
Instead of just any version of Godzilla, he chose Shimo, a Titan from the 2024 movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Shimo’s icy blue exoskeleton and fierce appearance made it the perfect reference for a strap design that would complement the Ice Blue M.A.D.1S.
The idea? A strap that looked like it had been slashed by Godzilla’s claws—giving it a wild, untamed, and beastly feel.
Bringing the Design to Life with Gunny Straps
To turn this vision into reality, @watcheskick reached out to us, Gunny Straps. He shared his idea of a 3D claw mark effect that would give the strap a realistic, battle-scarred look.
We took on the challenge, crafting the strap entirely from scratch. The process involved carefully selecting materials that could replicate the texture of Shimo’s icy blue scales, while also ensuring the strap was comfortable and durable. Our team worked meticulously to create deep, realistic-looking claw marks, making it seem like Godzilla himself had torn through the strap.
When the strap was finally completed and sent to @watcheskick, he was absolutely thrilled. The Godzilla Shimo Strap wasn’t just a perfect match for his M.A.D.1S—it was a work of art that told a story.
