SIHH (now known as Watches & Wonders) and Baselworld are two annual events that always been waiting by wristwatch enthusiast around the world. On those 2 events, major watch brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Hublot, Jaeger LeCoultre, IWC, A Lange Soehne, Panerai, Breitling, Tag Heuer, and many more, release their new models.
Unfortunately this 2020 those 2 events are cancelled and postponed to early 2021 because of outbreak of Corona virus COVID-19 in China, then slowly but sure, followed by many countries including European countries. Spreading of this virus is quite fast, although the death rate is not as high as SARS, Ebola, and other deadly viruses, but this virus had affected many international events, Italy had completely isolated, some islands on Maldives closed down, including cancellation of Baselworld and Watches & Wonders.
We still don’t know with this cancellation, will those manufactures still launch their 2020 new models online or to completely postpone everything till 2021. Some rumours heard that some big brands already book some penthouses in Geneva to make private show, just rumour.
The fascination about those 2 events not only on the show date, but far before the event, people start to make predictions for design of those new watches that’s about to release, it’s really an exciting process. For this 2020, I found some interesting information on https://monochrome-watches.com about prediction of new Rolexes, as I know their predictions is quite good…
I really like the black Milgauss, the rosegold Daytona with ceramic bezel, and the simple polar Explorer 1. I hope Rolex will make that model. And don’t forget that all of us still waiting for the Coke Rolex Jubilee.
Another interesting fenomena related with this new watch predictions is the strap game, yes, strap game. Many watch hobbyist like to swap the strap, or change the bracelet into strap to change appearance of their watches, or to dress up their watches, like the previous release as shown below.
So now, for the 2020 models, what strap design that you have in mind, maybe something like these pictures below?
Let’s play our imagination folks, and can’t wait to see the actual release of 2020.
